3D-Modeling
The applicability of the 3D modeling usage in the field of GIS can be explained by the fact that it provides data to be more demonstrative and interpretable, gives the opportunity to fully transfer the information about the changes of objects and explored environment in the course of time, and it also permits to carry out the number of the applied tasks which are inaccessible to solve using the two-dimensional data.
The application of 3D models allows:
· to determine precisely the spatial, geographical values of objects;
· to get the information about the construction height;
· to combine the thematic layers of the digital map and the image data with the embedded 3D objects;
· to perform the realistic mapping of the territory and virtual travel along the model;
· to carry out the analysis of visibility zones and the determination of the line of sight;
· to carry out the interpolation by the height points.
Besides, with the help of such models it is easy to calculate the area and volume characteristics of the surfaces and slopes, the expositions and washing characteristics of the relief and also to carry out the engineering of the profiles and contour lines of the relief surface.
It is very convenient for the ones for whom it’s important to get the most complete concept of the vector and raster data spatial distribution. The 3D-modeling of situations gives the possibility to value of the mutual influence of different factors to each other and to evaluate the forecast of the further development of the situation. The joint use of the raster-vector and interactive 3D analysis together with the visualization allows getting the actual and useful information: from the analysis of the air pollution 3D surfaces to the discovering of demographic patterns for certain territories.
